The fair is this coming Sunday, April 28th. We need as many hands on deck as possible! Click this link for the St. Thomas Permisison Slip. You may either print, sign and send with your Cadet on Sunday, or feel free to email Officer Thornton with your permission.
A number of the Cadets took the Downeaster from Wells to Boston to see the Celtics take on the Detroit Pistons on February 15th. Before the game, the cadet’s elite color guard presented the colors at the opening ceremony. The trip was chaperoned by the school resource officers, parents, and several executive board members.
This trip is to reward the cadets for the community service projects they have participated in over the past year such as; Toys for Tots, The Maine Children’s Cancer Program, National Night Out, Sticker Shock against teen drinking, and Shoveling for the Seniors and Law Enforcement Together program after recent storms.
The cadets are male and female Junior and Senior High Students who have completed physical training, character building activities and participate in weekly meetings and drills as well as community service projects on a regular basis. The youth in this program clearly exemplify the tenants of their patches which state “Integrity, Pride, Honor, & Leadership” under the supervision of Sanford’s School Resource Officers; Michael Gordon and Tipper Thornton.
As we remember those lost on 9-11, we would also like to offer an enormous THANK YOU to our local law enforcement, fire and rescue personnel. We appreciate your service to this community.
The Cadets will be assisting the Sanford Elks as they present their annual Chili & Chowder Contest this Friday night! Keep an eye on their Facebook Event Page below for the latest info:
Our Color Guard will present the colors and Cadets will be caddying on Saturday at Sanford Country Club on Saturday.
Keep an eye on the Maine Children’s Cancer page for upcoming events and information.
CADETS: SEE OFFICER GORDON OR OFFICER THORNTON TO SIGN UP AND RECEIVE YOUR SPECIAL MCCP CADET T-SHIRT.
Please join us this evening, 6pm, at the Police Department if you wish to attend our regular monthly board meeting. We are asked to park in the lot across from the old Espo’s – not directly in front of or beside the Police Department.
IMPORTANT: Due to the impending storm, military facilities including BOG BROOK have been shut down for the weekend. BOG BROOK trip has been postponed until an upcoming school vacation – info to follow. Officer Gordon will post more info here soon. PLEASE TEXT OR CALL ANY CADETS WHO ARE NOT ON FACEBOOK!
We’ll be posting pertinent information regarding the upcoming Bog Brook trip, August 27-30th, on our Parent Page. Right now, we have listed all gear/stuff that cadets need to bring along. More info to follow.
Drop off is at Junior High, Saturday at 6am.
Pickup is also at Junior High, Tuesday at 3pm.
Bog Brook is still a go. We will be 60+ miles inland and at a military facility with generators. We just need to make sure everyone has rain gear. Let us know and we can help. Last year it was the heat that made it a challenge this year it will be a little rain. We have enough military m.r.e. (meals ready to eat) to feed a small army.
If you have any transportation issues, please email Margie at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will help out.
Several community service opportunities are currently available – one is listed below, and we’ll update the list this afternoon. Keep an eye on our Facebook page or this blog post for more information or updates:
- Any students looking for community service, please contact Louis Trottier at Sanford High School. The custodial staff needs assistance moving items and clearing out classrooms. This is for this week, and possibly next week. The phone number at Sanford High is 207-324-4050.
A hearty congratulations is in order for our Academy 2011 graduates, who worked their tales off this summer. Many recruits received patches, and became real-live Cadets! It was a pleasure to see (and feed) many of the parents and family members today. We’ll post a list of Cadets (first name, last initial) and their rank this weekend.
Many thanks to all of the parents and family members for their support.
