A number of the Cadets took the Downeaster from Wells to Boston to see the Celtics take on the Detroit Pistons on February 15th. Before the game, the cadet’s elite color guard presented the colors at the opening ceremony. The trip was chaperoned by the school resource officers, parents, and several executive board members.
This trip is to reward the cadets for the community service projects they have participated in over the past year such as; Toys for Tots, The Maine Children’s Cancer Program, National Night Out, Sticker Shock against teen drinking, and Shoveling for the Seniors and Law Enforcement Together program after recent storms.
The cadets are male and female Junior and Senior High Students who have completed physical training, character building activities and participate in weekly meetings and drills as well as community service projects on a regular basis. The youth in this program clearly exemplify the tenants of their patches which state “Integrity, Pride, Honor, & Leadership” under the supervision of Sanford’s School Resource Officers; Michael Gordon and Tipper Thornton.
